Pitched & flat roofs

Roofing Repairs & Restoration

A roof rarely fails all at once. It starts with a slipped slate, a blocked gutter or a tired stretch of flashing, and the damage works its way inward until it reaches the timbers and the rooms below. We repair, restore and renew roofs across Glasgow and the west of Scotland — and we are as happy to fix one slate as to strip and re-cover a whole roof.

Roofing Repairs & Restoration — illustrative

Repairs and restoration

Most of the roofing we do is repair and restoration: replacing slipped, cracked or missing slates and tiles, renewing worn flashings and mortar, sorting ridge and hip lines, and dealing with the small failures that let water in. Where a roof is generally sound but weathered, restoration brings it back to a watertight, tidy condition without the cost of a full replacement.

We look at why the fault happened, not just the fault itself. A recurring leak in the same spot usually has a cause worth finding — and fixing that is what stops you calling someone back next winter.

New roofs and re-roofing

When a roof has reached the end of its life — repeated failures, widespread slippage, or a covering that is simply worn out — re-roofing is often more sensible than patching. We strip the old covering, check and make good the structure beneath, and re-cover with a suitable slate, tile or flat-roof system.

Slate, tile and flat roofs

We work on natural and fibre-cement slate, concrete and clay tile, and flat-roof coverings including felt and single-ply systems. Different coverings age and fail in different ways, so the right repair depends on what you have and the condition it is in.

Guttering, fascias, chimneys and leadwork

Rainwater goods and roof detailing are where a lot of "roof" problems actually begin. We clear, repair and replace guttering, downpipes and fascias; repoint and rebuild chimney heads; and renew lead flashings, soakers and valleys where the existing leadwork has failed.

Worth knowing — Not every leak has the same cause, and some faults only become clear once we can see the roof properly. We assess first and tell you what we find.

Recognise the problem?

Signs it's worth a call

Slipped or missing slates

Gaps in the roof line, or slates in the garden after a storm.

Damp patches on ceilings

Staining that appears or spreads after heavy rain.

Overflowing or sagging gutters

Water running down the wall instead of away from it.

Loose flashing or lead

Around chimneys, valleys and where the roof meets a wall.

Questions

About roofing

My roof has one or two slipped slates — is that worth calling about?
Yes. A small number of slipped or missing slates is exactly the kind of repair worth sorting early, before water gets into the timbers below. We are happy to look at small jobs as well as full restorations.
Do you work on flat roofs as well as slate and tile?
Yes. We work on natural and fibre-cement slate, concrete and clay tile, and flat-roof coverings including felt and single-ply systems. The right repair depends on the covering you have and its condition.
Can you sort guttering, chimneys and leadwork too?
Yes. A lot of roof problems actually start at the guttering, chimney or flashing. We clear and repair rainwater goods and fascias, repoint and rebuild chimney heads, and renew lead flashings and valleys.
